Prepare for what comes next

A stronger foundation
for your next upgrade.

Assess your electrical panel and service before adding EV charging, backup equipment or other major loads.

A panel replacement and an electrical service upgrade are not necessarily the same project. Start with a professional assessment of the existing system, your planned loads and any utility-related work.

What we can discuss

  • Panel replacement and service-upgrade enquiries
  • New equipment and future-load assessment
  • Subpanel and circuit-planning discussion
  • Permitting and utility coordination scope review

Do not remove electrical panel covers to prepare a request. Let the assigned professional determine what information can be collected safely and what needs an in-person assessment.

What to prepare

No technical inspection is needed to start a conversation. Share what you already know and let the responsible professional assess the electrical details.

  • What new equipment or renovations you are planning
  • Any known panel or service information
  • Previous electrical assessments, if available
  • Access arrangements for the property

What can affect the project scope?

  • Whether the project is panel replacement or a service upgrade
  • Existing equipment, access and circuit work
  • Utility involvement and service-entrance changes
  • Any inspection, restoration or additional work identified

About this service

Your questions,
answered.

Does every EV charger need a bigger panel?

No blanket answer applies. Ask for an assessment of existing capacity and appropriate alternatives before approving a service upgrade.

Can I request a 200-amp upgrade?

Yes. Describe your goal in the Voltera request, but the final scope and capacity should follow the property assessment.

Will power need to be disconnected?

Ask the responsible installer to explain any planned interruption, required coordination and expected sequence before work starts.
